Batch compress videos

Compress several videos at once, right in your browser: smaller, or made for where they're going. Never over the limit, no upload, no watermark.

Free, no watermark, no account, no size limit. Big videos are quickest on a computer.

How to compress several videos at once

Three steps, with nothing to install and no account to make.

  1. Choose your videos

Drop several files on the page, or pick them from your device. Add more at any time before you start.

  2. Pick how

Smaller at the same picture size, or made for where they're going: email, Discord, WhatsApp, social or YouTube. One choice for all of them.

  3. Save them all

They're compressed on your device, one after another. Save each one, or all of them at once.

Why batch compress videos?

A shoot leaves you with a folder, not a file. Twenty clips done one at a time means opening a tool, waiting and saving, twenty times over. Drop the lot in here, choose once, and let it work down the list.

A weekly schedule. A vlog, a tutorial series, a podcast with video: every episode has to come in under a platform's limit before it can go up, which turns a recurring chore into one step.

Several clients in one sitting. Clips from different shoots, in different formats, going to different platforms, without switching tools or handing anything to a third party. When they're headed to several places, check the size limits for each platform first, then choose once for the lot.

A lecture or course series. Ten or fifteen videos that all have to land under a platform's size limit, usually the day before they're due. If you teach, here's how our tools for education keep student video on the device.

Clearing space on your phone. Compress what's filling your camera roll, keep the smaller copies, and get gigabytes back without sending personal footage to a cloud service.

One clip on its own, with its own settings, is compress video; to fit several into a single email, there's compress video for email.

Questions about batch compressing

Is the batch compress tool free?

Yes. No account, no trial, no subscription, no watermark on anything you save, and no limit on how many videos you compress.

Does batch compression upload my videos to a server?

No. Your browser reads each video and compresses it itself, on your device, and nothing is uploaded, whether it's one video or twenty. They're never sent to us or anyone else.

How many videos can I compress at once?

As many as you like. They're done one at a time, so a long list takes a while: keep the page open. For dozens of long videos, a computer is much quicker than a phone.

What formats does the bulk video compressor support?

MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV, from phones, cameras and screen recorders, including iPhone HEVC and ProRes. What you save is an MP4 with H.264 video, which plays everywhere.

Can I set different compression levels for each video?

Not yet: one choice applies to the whole batch, which is what makes it quick to set up. For different settings, compress them one at a time on the Compress video page.

Will batch compression reduce video quality?

Only as much as it has to. Every choice shows the size each video will come out at before you start, and warns you when to expect visible loss. A size is a limit rather than a goal, so a video that looks the same smaller comes out smaller, and one that's small enough already is kept exactly as it is.

How do I save them all?

Press Save all when they're done: each video is saved as its own download (your browser may ask once to allow several downloads). On an iPhone or iPad they come as one zip. Each video also has its own Save button.

What if a video is small enough already?

It's kept exactly as it is, and the list says so. Nothing is made worse to get smaller than it needs to be.

What should I do if a video won't compress?

The rest of the batch carries on, and that row says what went wrong. Usually it's a video this browser can't read: try it on its own on the Compress video page, or in another browser. Very long 4K videos are happiest on a computer.

Can I use it on a Mac, a Windows PC or a phone?

Yes, in an up-to-date browser on any of them: there's nothing to install. Keep the page open while it works, as phones pause pages in the background.

Can I send several videos in one email?

Yes: the Compress video for email page shares one email's limit between all your videos, so together they fit.

Is there a size limit?

No. Each video is read a piece at a time and compressed on your device, so any size works. Very big or long videos take a while and are best done on a computer; keep the page open while it works.

What are the new files called?

Each video's name with _ohsovideo added, such as holiday_ohsovideo.mp4, so it sits next to the original. The originals are never changed.
